I would really appreciate if somebody could help me figure out what is wrong. I even tried to to execute the new kernel without reboot using 'kexec' command.īut it also fails with an “invalid argument” error. Using 'insmod -f' fails with an 'invalid module format'. Then, 'kvm-intel.ko' is avalaible but can not be loaded. I tried to use another kernel by following this tutorial : Why are the headers not available ? How can I get them ? Then, the missing directory will be created and it will be possible to get 'kvm-intel.ko' module properly installed in a subdirectory and loaded.īut, when I issue : apt-get install linux-headers-'uname -r'Į: Unable to locate package linux-headers-4.9.16-coreos-r1Į: Couldn't find any package by glob 'linux-headers-4.9.16-coreos-r1'Į: Couldn't find any package by regex 'linux-headers-4.9.16-coreos-r1' Surprisingly, there is actually no '/lib/modules/4.9.16-coreos-r1' directory.įrom what I read in several posts, I need to install Linux headers. Modprobe: FATAL: Module kvm_intel not found in directory /lib/modules/4.9.16-coreos-r1 libkmod/libkmod.c:586 kmodsearchmoddep() could not open moddep file '/lib/modules/4.9.16-coreos-r1/' I issue : apt-get install qemu-kvm libvirt-bin virtinst bridge-utilsĪt some point, the installation complains : Model name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650L v3 1.80GHz Virtualization is available as shown below : I strongly suggest that you go back to that page and read it CAREFULLY, then follow the actual instructions it provides.I use a Docker container with 4.9.16-coreos-r1 on a DigitalOcean host. You have obviously not done that because you say that you have enabled Hyper-V and tried to install HAXM, which doesn't match any set of instructions provided. You need to work out which Criteria you match and then follow the Hypervisor link to find out what you need to do. If you follow the first link in post #1 then the first thing that jumps out is a table. A lot of people skim instructions or the like and then go ahead and do what they think they should and then wonder why it doesn't work. It's important that you actually read and absorb the information written in front of you. For instance, I asked two questions in post #2 and you answered neither of them in post #3 and provided information I didn't ask for. It seems very much like you're not actually paying attention to what's written in front of you. I simply followed the link provided in your first post and read the information provided.
